After a brief Skype conversation with this hardworking couple, I knew I wanted to be a part of their wedding. They were fun, easy-going, creative and obviously in love- I knew their wedding was going to be stylish and romantic. They must have felt I was up to the task of capturing the love, because about 30 minutes after we spoke, they emailed me that they wanted to book. That was definitely a record time booking, and I couldn’t wait for Sept 22nd to come around. I finally got to meet them in person in July at Brendan and Kacey’s wedding.
Jamie, a shoe designer whose work frequently takes her to China, and Ryan, a hardworking cartoonist, are a creative couple to whom style comes easy, and this was quite evident in the simple elegance of their day. From her shimmering shoes to the glittering card box and chocolate cakes, Jamie incorporated blush pinks, taupes and just the right amount of metallic shine into their gorgeous day. Ryan, normally the jokester, was in quiet awe all throughout portraits at the beauty of his new wife (or maybe he was just silently praying for the photos to be over), and Jamie was anxious to see Ryan all morning. Once they were together, at the altar under the huge sycamore tree on the Waveny House Terrace, it was clear by the tears that formed both of their eyes, that they couldn’t wait to begin this new season of their life together.
After a hilarious toast by the best man, and a few tearful parent dances to some of my favorite songs including Billy Joel’s, “She’s Got A Way About Her,” they danced the night away surrounded by loved ones. I feel so blessed to have been a part of this day, and to have been trusted to capture the love story of this amazingly kindhearted couple.
While I was capturing Jamie getting ready, my amazing second shooter Jackie was in the next room getting a similar shot of Ryan. I just love when that happens!
These photos say we may look sophisticated in our suits, but don’t be fooled!
Jamie, please, you just toooo gorgeous.
What a spread of yumminess! Just looking at those cakes makes me drool…
