Bryant Park Grill Wedding | NYC Wedding Photogrpaher

When I was first starting out in wedding photography, second shooting used to be the thing I wanted to graduate from into having my own clients and shooting my own weddings, but now that I am shooting my own, second shooting has really become more like an occasional treat!   It’s a lot more laid back than being the primary shooter, and you have the chance to really step back and think of a wedding in a more documentary way.  Because you aren’t directing portraits, it also forces you to look for the “less obvious” shot to get some variety from what the primary shooter is getting.   It’s a unique way to challenge yourself to help you grow as a photographer for your own weddings.  I especially enjoyed this wedding because Lindsay Madden is one of my fave people to hang with, and because this couple, Eric and Suzanne,  just knocked it out of the park with wedding day sweetness.  I loved how Eric’s two girls and boy were so involved in the day and how much they seemed to adore their new step-mom.  It was clearly a joyous celebration for everyone.  Plus these two were so stylish: her in her Vera Wang and Jimmy Choos, and him and his party wearing classic black and white tuxes.  There was truly an air of Manhattan elegance to the whole affair.  Thanks Lindsay for inviting me to second shoot this with you :)

While we waited for Lindsay and Suzanne in the first look location, we did some portraits. I love this one on the right.  Eric looks so James Bond.
My fave portrait of the day

The ceremony was on the top of Bryant Park Grill…a truly killer place to get married.
The inside was equally stunning with a gorgeous view of Bryant Park which was lit up through the night.
As a photographer, let’s just be real, the receptions aren’t usually the part of the wedding we are most looking forward to.  The lighting is often challenging and three hours of dancing pictures can get tiresome, however  with a crowd of partiers like these guys, I couldn’t help but have a good time.  I was dancing a long with everyone even though my camera was glued to my face.  Whaaat?  I’m on the dance floor anyways!  O and yes, in both of the last two weddings I did someone tried to dance with me…or more like dance up on me…but that’s another story…. In all seriousness though this couple and their family made my heart melt and this reception  was a bundle of fun.
The kids gave a speech saying that they knew Suzanne would be the best step mom ever.  Love her reaction.

Instead of the groom/mother dance, Eric danced with his two daughters…so sweet.

Elizabeth and Harry’s City Hall Ceremony | NYC Wedding Photographer

This sweet couple wanted to make it official as soon as possible, and only three weeks after Harry proposed (I know many of you brides reading this have headaches at the thought!) they held a city hall ceremony with close friends and family as a pre-cursor to their July wedding.  The wait at city hall was so long, it was almost as though the world was ending and everyone was running to city hall to get married to their sweethearts.  By the time Elizabeth and Harry were able to tie the knot, the kids were starving and we had no time for portraits.  However,  this duo rolled with the punches and their love shined through in every candid moment.  Here are some of the sweet moments from their special day.

Peter and Dee’s Brooklyn Botanic Garden Engagement | New York Wedding Photographer

Been looking forward to this couple’s engagement session since October, but we postponed it to wait for the spring blossoms, and were we rewarded for our wait!   The Brooklyn Botanic Garden, bathed in the glow of the warm afternoon light,  never looked better with its cherry blossoms blooming,  willow tree branches bristling and blankets of purple flowers covering the ground.   What a quintessential place to celebrate the new love of this sweet Brooklyn couple who will be getting married in May.  Afterwards we captured these city-dweller’s more urban side,  spending a little time at the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn as well. We had to call it a night for the sake of Dee’s fingers and toes.  It’s not summer yet, people!  Though these photos would almost fool you.  Can’t wait for this lovey duo’s May wedding!

Metropolitan Building Modern Marie Antoinette Styled Shoot | NYC Wedding Photographer

Playful, fun, and girly are the first words that come to mind about the shoot below which is in such stark contrast to my last post, the Hunger Games Inspired Shoot that the only thing I can think of that these two styled shoots have in common is the high fashion standard that the vendors and visionaries’ set.   Judy Pak Photography envisioned a shoot that would play on Sofia Copola’s depiction of Marie Antoinette in her movie where we met a young, lavish, playful, if somewhat lost girl instead of the frilly, stuffy detached aristocrat we all have come to know as part of history and legend.    It was so fun to work on this shoot at the Metropolitan Building in Long Island City, a Versailles-worthy location for a wedding,  with four beautiful models and a ton of extremely talented vendors (listed below).  Judy did such an amazing job of putting this together and finding the right vendors for the job, that no wonder it was featured on Style Me Pretty’s main page last week!

And if you are planning your wedding definitely check out the vendors below, you will not be disappointed!
