Liane and Greg | NY Engagement Photographer

I had never been to this part of Brooklyn before, but after this shoot I fell in love and went straight to Craigslist to see how much a tiny apartment would cost me to be in this gorgeous peaceful neighborhood.  Let’s just say a tiny one bedroom was gonna cost me double what the hub and I pay in Astoria for my large 2 bedroom apartment in a great area and only  1 block from the subway… That said, I had a great time and became obsessed with ivy and brownstones.  Go figure.

Thanks to Judy Pak who gave me the opportunity to join her on this fun shoot…  Greg and Liane were sweethearts and Judy and I had a lot of fun hanging out once again and shooting their engagement and wedding the next day (post soon to come).

Enjoy, and try not to get to jealous of the residents of this adorable neighborhood or the perfect love shared by these two cuties.

Monday was an exhausting but truly rewarding night.   Working with the talented Judy Pak Chung again,  she constructed a travel themed shoot inspired by the movie “Up!” complete with stylists!  In addition to looking fabulous and stylish, this couple was so sweet, and they are getting married on my birthday this year: August 6th!   We did this shoot later in the evening than I usually do which I explain later in this post posed a problem for me, but it was also so romantic with the street lights and relative quiet in the park.  It was super hot and humid that night but with the gorgeous shots we captured- it was sooo worth it!   My fave is this first one which looked so ethereal and romantic in black and white.  The background blur of the willow tree almost makes it look like it was photoshopped with some cool brush tool- but it wasn’t at all!

I love how I learn something new with every photoshoot, especially when shadowing someone talented like Judy.   This photo shoot I learned a very simple but important lesson: I need new camera.  Haha!

Basically in simple non technical terms, my camera doesn’t have the low-light quality or capabilities that I need.  As the light dimmed and the moon came out,  the most beautiful pictures kept presenting themselves.   As Judy clicked away,  my auto focus seized up and refused work any longer at finding shapes in the dark to focus on.  By the end I could only watch!  Solution? My husband and I have decided that the time has come for me to buy a 5D Mark II in August! What a birthday present!   :)  Can’t wait! I will need it at the wedding I’m going to be helping Judy with in late August…

Had a very busy weekend involving a lot of photography fun, and this session was definitely a highlight.   I got to shadow the amazing Judy Pak Chung and take photos of this beautiful young couple that is getting married next year.  They wanted a “French Country” themed engagement shoot and selected this beautiful little spot in lower manhattan that I didn’t even know existed (though I’ve lived in NYC for about 5 years now).   I shot this session in “RAW” for the first time and LOVED the convenience of being able to tweak the exposure afterwards.   These are only a few of the many beautiful shots I captured of this couple. Keep checking back! Will post more soon!
