Prospect Park Family Session | NYC and Brooklyn Family Photographer

Meet John Mark-  the happiest little guy I know.   His Dad, Colin, says that I happen to get lucky and see him on his good days, and his mom, Sofia, says she thinks he’s good because he likes my face (why thank you John Mark, I’m smitten),  but I know better – this guy is a little angel!   No surprise there – his parents are two of Alex and my closest friends and really the nicest people in the world.  In such a joyful, peaceful home, what does this little guy have to cry about?  It’s really a disappointment, I  do love a good wailing baby pic, but lucky for me He LOVES to make funny faces instead…  He made them as a newborn, as you may remember, and still as a 9 month old now with four adorable!

It was a gorgeous spring day in Brooklyn with fallen tree blossoms polka-doting the grass in Prospect Park (which John Mark thought looked yummy enough to eat) and gorgeous light reflecting off the Brooklyn Museum’s modern facade.  I had the best time capturing this little guys’ smile and vivacious energy and couldn’t wait to share these pictures with the rest of you, internet. :)

His parents treated me to a breakfast at Tom’s Restaurant afterwards which was seriously the most killer diner breakfast ever.  Whoever you are reading this, no matter where you live, you gotta get to Brooklyn try the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes!

And now for some pictures…

John Mark Whiddon | NYC Newborn Photographer

Meet John Mark Whiddon-  the first baby of my dear friends Colin and Sofia.  I couldn’t wait to photograph this little guy since I met him the day after he was born.   Here this little Asian/Caucasian halfling is 2 weeks!  When I got to their house I was disappointed with the available light; however,  we made it work with a window and some lamps.  All in all I think it worked out pretty well given what we had to work with.

John Mark had been a little fussy the past few days so his Mom was worried about how well he’d do with the shoot.  We turned the heat up, put on some soothing whale noises and he went right to sleep, seemingly very comfortable in the funniest positions that his Dad helped me get him into.  Thanks for being such a trooper for two hours John Mark!  This newborn shoot is really too cute for words!  Can’t wait to do this family’s portraits in the fall!

Love,

Caroline Frost Shea

PS- This little guy’s mom is an excellent designer and did the tags and prints hanging up in the strawberry pictures.  She also designed my logo. Check her out:  www.sofiachen.com
