If you ever find yourself needing  a reminder of what weddings are really about,  bookmark Jenny and Ryan’s Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay wedding.  Jenny and Ryan’s wedding celebration was bursting at the seams with love, sweet moments and lovely people.  The tone for the day was set with one of the sweetest first looks you’ll ever see.  Jenny looked like Cinderella in her tulle ballgown and low bun as she approached Ryan on the bridge.  Ryan told me later, he was so nervous to see Jenny he couldn’t have imagined waiting until the ceremony.  Their first look was followed by gorgeous portraits along the foggy Northern California coast at Half Moon Bay.  Jenny and Ryan ceremony took place on the edge of the same cliffs with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean.  I love personalized ceremonies, and Jenny and Ryan wrote their own vows to each other, which had their guests laughing, tearing and unaware of the chilly fog.   In keeping with their personalities, and unique love story,  Ryan’s vows were at once teasing and devoted and Jenny’s were sweet and sincere.

In addition to being a joining of two lives, a wedding is a joining of two families, and it was touching to see Ryan and Jenny’s families’ instant camaraderie, and mutual love for the two people they were celebrating.  Jenny’s Dad lamented not having met Ryan’s Dad sooner.  Ryan’s parents shared genuine joy at the joining of their two families as well.  The evening was full of wonderful food, heartwarming speeches and lots more laughter.  Ryan’s brother and best man had the room in stitches with one of the best speeches I’ve heard, titled ” Ryan Before Jenny.”  Even the cake-cutting was so Jenny-and-Ryan.  Ryan, teasing Jenny with cake on her nose, and Jenny carefree and completely enjoying every minute of it.

I am so honored to have been a witness to this wedding, and all the sweet moments it produced, and I’m beyond flattered that Jenny and Ryan wanted to fly me out to California for it.   A special thanks to my dear friend Amy for helping me to capture the day (producing many of the lovely images you see above) and thank you also to the seagulls that kept jumping into pictures at the perfect moments including when Ryan and Jenny were announced husband and wife.
