  • Meet Caroline

A few things you should know about me...I am passionate about creating wedding photos that are natural, romantic and timeless. My approach to portrait time is to create timeless imagery that captures you two and your unique love in an honest, but gorgeously composed way that looks almost candid. Not a model? No problem! I believe it's a photographer's job, not yours to help you look and feel comfortable in front of the camera! I work in both medium format film and some digital. Film because of its beautiful, soft, fine art qualities and perfect skin tones, and digital because of it's reliability in low light situations.

In my spare time I read, write poetry, music and mentor other women. Brunch is my favorite meal of the day and my drink of choice is a French 75.

But enough about me... I look forward to hearing more about you and your wedding plans!

Frost Photography Mini Engagement Sessions

Recently, I did an online coupon deal for one hour engagement sessions in Manhattan.  The response was great, and as a result I’ve had the privilege of meeting a lot of super sweet couples of every flavor and stage of life!  Still have a few more to come, but here are four of these couples I got to meet and photograph this month:

Matt and Vivi at Central Park

Matt, Vivi, and I had such a fun couple of hours today, which was a bright, brisk day in Central Park.  These two were such great models, and weren’t afraid to have a good time!  We started in Shakespeare’s Garden where Matt proposed and after exploring the park a bit,  went back to their upper east side for their fur babies, Nena and Frank.   You can really tell a lot about a person based on how they treat animals and these two just love their two rescue dogs, despite their sometimes cumbersome quirks.  We all grabbed brunch afterwards as today also happens to be Matt’s birthday, and I got to hear all about their beautiful, unique June 2013 taking place and a rustic barn in upstate New York.   Thanks for such a fun day, Matt and Vivi!!!    And “Happy Birthday” Matt! This super early, day-of preview of your photos is my present to you. ;-)

Sammy + Katy at the Meatpacking District

Sammy and Katy have such great chemistry and a unique love story.  They met last October and knew right away they had found “the one.”  They have the sort of ease of manner with each other that you feel with couples who have been together for years and both are such joyful people, it’s contagious… I wish them so much happiness for their wedding taking place in Seattle this August!

As soon as we met, Katy said she felt like she already knew me from following my blog and with her easy manner and friendly spirit (must be the west coast coming out of her),  that I soon felt I knew her as well.   In fact, we connected so well that we are grabbing coffee next week just to hang out… I love when a client becomes a friend!

Ankur + Diana at Battery Park City

Battery park city is a unique part of downtown that not a lot of people know about and that reminded me a bit of San Fransisco.   Ankur and Diana live in the neighborhood and wanted to capture a day in the life.   Before meeting Diana and Ankur, Diana warned me they were photo-shy.   I wasn’t deterred, as I’m used to working with people who don’t love being front of the camera and enjoy helping people to feel comfortable, but that was not necessary at all with this couple who contrary to their belief, were naturals at modeling!  As I’m sure you can see, these two good-lookings have a special kind of love that just radiates through photos and made my job very easy.   I wish them so much joy for their August 2013 wedding!

Dino + Araceli at Central Park

Right when Dino thought he was never going to find the right one for him,  Araceli walked into his world, or rather into his restaurant, and he never looked back.   Dino is a recently retired firefighter who is enjoying his new relaxing lifestyle, and Araceli works in Fashion industry.   Both are as nice as can be, and Dino truly knows how to make Araceli laugh…and made me laugh as well!   We met early one morning on a warm spring day and took in some of the most beautiful parks of the park.   They are such beautiful people and I wish them so much happiness for their upcoming Florida wedding!

Nolita, Central Park and Times Square | NYC Engagement Session

Remember your fourth grade boyfriend?  I do.  I remember when he showed up at my house on Valentine’s Day with a box of chocolates that had my Mom and three sisters “oohing” and “ahhing” me into such a state of embarrassment that I cried and hid in my closet for hours.  Now imagine reconnecting with your elementary school sweetheart on Facebook fifteen years later and it turning out that you had it right in fourth grade!  That’s what happened for Cathryn and Clint who are getting married in June.

I just love it when a couple cooks up an engagement session that says “This is us” and that is just what Clint and Cathryn did pulling together a long list of places that meant something to them personally for a whopping three hour session.   But it was just the inspiration I was needing that rainy afternoon:  a beautiful couple with an adorable love story, and a trip to several new places, and a few familiar ones,  to capture the unique relationship of Cathryn and Clint.   Some of the places you see below are several parts of Central Park,  Spring Lounge, Nolita, PUBLIC, Times Square, Freeman’s Alley and a few other gems around Nolita,  the couple’s Manhattan neighborhood.

Amazing photos! I want to get married again so we can have you as our photographer!

Giando on the Water Wedding | New York Wedding Photographer

I was thrilled to work with Lindsay Madden again on yet another beautiful wedding, but even more thrilled because this couple is the very definition of sweetness!   While Lindsay captured Julia’s getting ready photos, I hung out with Peter and the boys.  Peter and his groomsmen actually grew up about 15 minutes from my hometown in California, so – go figure- us laid back Northern Californians had an easy time getting a long.

Julia and Peter’s love for one another was so evident….the minute we met Julia she was asking “Have you seen Pete? How is he doing?”  And Peter’s reaction to reading Julia’s letter for him, “Did someone cut an onion in here?  Jeez.  That girl’s a good one!”  They barely required any direction during their portraits and first look as the love and romance was just radiating from them!   Their ceremony and reception which took place at Giando on the Water, between the Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges at sunset was one of the prettiest ceremonies I’ve seen.   I love when couples write their own vows and Peter and Julia’s personal words to each other had me tearing up a long with everyone else.

At the end of the night I received a hand written note, which I’ve never received as a second shooter or primary shooter,  thanking me for being a part of their day.  They had written it to me personally – when they hadn’t even met me yet!  These two kindhearted people deserve each other and remind me what weddings are all about: two beautiful but separate people coming together to make an even more beautiful whole.
