A few things you should know about me...I am passionate about creating wedding photos that are natural, romantic and timeless. My approach to portrait time is to create timeless imagery that captures you two and your unique love in an honest, but gorgeously composed way that looks almost candid. Not a model? No problem! I believe it's a photographer's job, not yours to help you look and feel comfortable in front of the camera! I work in both medium format film and some digital. Film because of its beautiful, soft, fine art qualities and perfect skin tones, and digital because of it's reliability in low light situations.

In my spare time I read, write poetry, music and mentor other women. Brunch is my favorite meal of the day and my drink of choice is a French 75.

But enough about me... I look forward to hearing more about you and your wedding plans!

Amanda and Andrew’s Waveny House Wedding

If there is one thing that my home state California lacks that the East Coast has in abundance it’s old mansions.  From New York to Connecticut to Rhode Island I’ve been able to work at so many gorgeous places that used to be homes to the high society.  Some of my favorite spots include Castle Hill Inn, the  NYIT de Seversky mansion and this gorgeous spot, the Waveny House.  This beautiful property in Connecticut offers an abundance of gorgeous  locations for wedding photography, and so when Amanda and Andrew asked me to photograph their wedding,  I couldn’t wait to go back to this iconic spot.   Amanda and Andrew pulled together such an elegant affair with a garden ceremony,  candlelit dinner and dancing under a large maple tree al fresco.   Amanda looked absolutely radiant in her Cinderella ballgown and Andrew just couldn’t take his eyes off her the whole night.  Thank you so much to Bethany and Kristy for their help that day!

Central Park Row Boat Engagement Session | New York Wedding Photographer

Does anything say romance like a rowboat for two on the Central Park pond captured on film?   With the weeping willows grazing the water,  the architectural eye candy of Bethesda Terrace and Bow Bridge, and the stunning skyline peeking up over the trees, I think not.  My husband, Alex actually proposed to me on this very same pond in one of these rowboats and I’ve always wanted to photograph an engagement session here.    This gentleman, also named Alex, and his fiancee Christina hold a different kind of special meaning in a romantic boat ride.  In fact, they met on a ship while serving as officers in the Navy.   Indeed, Alex could steer this little dingy with expertise no matter what ludicrous directions I was shouting from shore.   “A LITTLE CLOSER” ,  “A LITTLE BACK”  “SPIN IT AROUND”  “TURN TO THE RIGHT, NO THE OTHER RIGHT.”  “You mean Starboard?”  Oops I forgot who I was dealing with.  :)  But they did an excellent job humoring me, and these images of these two sweethearts on my favorite pond make my heart so happy.   And again, film takes my breath away.  Can’t wait to photograph their cozy wedding this January!

[…] kind and affectionate people, they are also tough.  Like, really tough.   They did meet as two officers in the Navy after all, and how grateful I was for their toughness, because they were willing –no– […]

Napa Engagement Session | Napa Valley Wedding Photographer

Excited to finally share some of my images from the Jose Villa Napa Valley workshop.  The first evening, after a full day of classroom time,  Jose and his team put together an adorable engagement session for us complete with a rusty pick-up truck and a crumbling, moss-covered house amongst a valley of oak trees.  We each got five minutes to pose the couple ourselves.  I shot the entire thing in film, and I have to say, I’m in love with the soft, creamy texture and how little time I needed to spend in post processing!  The golden light of my California homeland cannot be beat and looks all the more amazing on film.  I am also convinced that having  a hair and make up expert on a shoot  like Mar is really invaluable.  More Napa images coming soon!

Joel and Jose during the e-session.  Love these two!

Love these! I follow Jose Villa on instagram and love his stuff. Jealous you got to go to his workshop (although I would never be able to duplicate what you do).

Jenn and Erik Central Park Wedding | New York Wedding Photographer

New York Wedding Photographer

What is a sweet, modest, NYC-loving, Canadian couple with big families to do?  Elope to NYC of course!  Jenn, Erik and their parents traveled down for the small city hall ceremony, and then we spent the morning running around Central Park, which, thanks to it being a chilly weekday morning, was practically empty.  We even go a miraculous image of just the two of them on Bow Bridge. Both they and their parent’s were so sweet and really made Kristy and I feel like part of the family.  Thanks Kristy Timms for your assistance!
