Barbara and Adam’s have the kind of love that fairy tales are made of.  What’s so amazing about this engagement shoot is that beyond being incredibly romantic, it captures things this couple actually does together; walks in the park, writing poetry, studying Shakespeare scripts, and journaling on a park bench are all actual pastimes of this creative couple.   Because both Adam and Barbara love nature, poetry, theater, and art, it was only fitting that their summer solstice wedding day have a Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired aesthetic.  When they reached out and asked if I wanted to be a part of their wedding day, it seemed destined to be.   Not only am I a lover of all things Shakespeare,  Midsummer Night’s Dream is a personal favorite of mine – I directed a production of it in High School.  Barbara is a director herself, currently getting her MA at NYU for Drama Therapy, and Adam a studio artist, is working in the design/tech world.  As you can imagine with all our overlapping interests and backgrounds, we just clicked.  I had a blast spending the afternoon with Adam and Barbara, who are both so creative, fun, and easy-going and as excited as I was about the medium format film I was shooting with.  I can’t wait for their wedding this Saturday!

We deliberated on a lot of places to photograph their Midsummer Night’s Dream inspired shoot, but one place in Central Park came to mind as the perfect backdrop.  Yes, these photos were taken in Central Park, smack in the middle of Manhattan.   This is my secret place, the spot I run to when I need to get away from it and pretend I don’t live in a city for an hour or two.  Perhaps it’s because this place is my escape, that I haven’t done any engagement shoots here yet; however, that is soon to change.   In fact,  I’ll be sharing another engagement session I did here very soon!  Barbara and Adam’s two hour engagement shoot went by so quickly as this gorgeous nook afforded us so many lovely backdrops.

If you want to learn my secret place, either book an engagement session with me, or go on an adventure see if you can find it yourself!  Central Park actually has two lovely areas with this kind of aesthetic a long with so many other hidden beautiful nooks to discover.  But if you find it,  keep it to yourself!   Let’s keep these places the peaceful uncrowded havens they are.  :)

This session was captured in all medium format film by New York Film Photographer Caroline Frost.
