I had finished reading the first Hunger Games a few weeks ago when my super talented photographer friend Carmen Santorelli asked me if I would join her to second shoot in digital a Hunger Games Inspired Wedding Shoot she was planning to shoot in film. In spite of the very early start time (I was up at 5:30 AM that day) I was thrilled and said yes immediately! We had such a fun day working in upstate New Jersey with our two gorgeous and quite funny (though you wouldn’t tell by looking at these photos) models. All the vendors on this project were not only extremely talented, but also very fun to work with. The pies by Pickles and Pies had me literally stuffing my face and the decor by Stacy Shea Events was perfect to every detail. It was so clever the way they incorporated key elements of the book into a truly romantic wedding: woods, berries, and mocking jay motifs really made this styled wedding full of beauty and class. The moody clouded skies kept the mood just right for this wedding giving it a slightly dark edge. See links to all of the amazingly talented vendors at the bottom of this post…
A few fun facts about this shoot: 1) Katniss’ bow was handmade by Stacy Shea… I imagine she would have done well if she had to be in the Hunger Games 2) I got my first tick bite 3) I found out that Toms are NOT water proof or even water resistant…my shoes were squishing like water shoes by the end of the day just from the dew on the grass…
“There are several other weak spots in the fence, but this one is so close to home I almost always enter the woods here”
There will be twenty-four of us. Odds are someone will kill him before I have to.
I give Peeta’s hand one last squeeze as a signal, as goodbye, and we begin counting.

P.S. I saw the movie last night and I have to say…though the theater was overflowing with pre-teens who felt the need to laugh and romantic moments and sob loudly and uncontrollably at the sad parts (continuing even once the scene had ended)…it did not disappoint. Don’t miss it! Maybe just see a later showing that’s past the pre-teens bedtimes!
