My adventures last Friday took this New York wedding photographer all the way to the small towns of Conshohocken (don’t worry, I can’t pronounce it either) and Blue Bell in Pennsylvania where I captured the wedding day of Dan and Liliana. Remember the rainy day shoot on the high line – the couple with the football? That was them! They were one of my earliest engagement shoots and my last wedding of 2012 (for now). It’s so amazing to be able to look at the the journey from meeting a couple, to shooting their engagement, to meeting again to talk about wedding details and then the big day one year from when we started- its just unreal! By the time of the wedding day, I feel like I’m capturing the wedding of old friends.
What can I say about this sweet, sweet couple who I’ve gotten to know a little bit the past year? I’ve never met two such hospitable people anywhere ever! The entire day Liliana was offering me food, champagne, water, and Philly’s soft pretzels as though she didn’t have a million other things to worry about- and Dan was the same way. “You HAVE to try this cake,” he said to me during the cake cutting. I’m supposed to be the invisible photographer- what are you doing talking to me during your cake cutting?! ;-)
Even though there were a few little hiccups on the day, like the electricity in the church going out delaying everything by 20 minutes, Liliana remained calm and collected. They started the ceremony by candle light, and half way through the lights miraculously came back on. The reception was so much fun with an amazing cover band that got almost all 280 guests out on the dance floor, the rest joined in when the Lebanese music came on. I realized why Liliana loves Dan so much when I saw him wholeheartedly participating in the various Lebanese dances.
Thanks to Mary Beth Mahaney for driving all the way down from Rochester to help me with second shooting the wedding!!! Here are a few of my faves from the day:
