The first thing I found out about Patrick in Christy is that they work together, live together directly across the street from their work in NYC and that coincidentally their apartment building happens to be an ex-NYU-dorm where I lived my sophomore year of college! It quickly became very clear to me that only do these two spend every waking minute with each other, but they still can’t seem to get enough! Patrick is clearly enamored of Christy whose beauty commands his full attention, and no one else can make Christy laugh through a tough situation (like an outdoor e-session in 40 degree weather) like Patrick can.
After having a blast at their e-session and getting to know them a little bit, I couldn’t wait for their big day. Christy was beaming and radiant and Patrick, relaxed and cracking jokes as per usual, couldn’t take his eyes of her. The most important thing for Patrick and Christy on their wedding day was to spend lots of time celebrating with friends and family so they opted to do a first look in place of missing their cocktail hour. The day was full of personal touches like an old Irish tradition of “tying the knot” that they revived for their ceremony and a surprise slideshow from the bride’s sister which had everyone with a heart (including yours truly) misty eyed. Dark clouds loomed in the sky giving the ceremony a beautiful textured backdrop, and much to everyone’s relief they didn’t decided to pour out their contents until the indoor reception had started.
P & C forewarned me that their family and friends knew how to party and they were right. From a 10 year old boy showing the DJ how it’s done on the dance floor, to a whole table of senior citizens being the first ones on the dance floor, to Patrick himself performing an Irish jig with a friend…the fun went on and on. After a delicious dinner, guests were kept full and happy with the red velvet wedding cake, a dessert bar, and a banana fosters station. The flambé and chocolate fountain were spectacles in and of themselves and managed to draw guests from the dance floor. Though both the bride and groom made a point to mingle with their guests for most of the reception, throughout the night there were many moments, smiles and looks between Patrick and Christy that made clear to anyone watching, they couldn’t be happier to right where they are – together.
Thanks to Michelle Lange for your help second shooting and this cool pic of Patrick getting ready!
