This July it was my absolute joy and privilege to be a bridesmaid for the first time! My beautiful older sister, Candice, just got married in the very spot I did, my parent’s lake home in South Lake Tahoe California. As I was in the wedding, I couldn’t very well photograph it, so instead I offered them a romantic engagement shoot as my wedding gift. It was secretly a gift to me because I’ve always wanted to photograph a couple in this gorgeous little meadow on the south shore of Lake Tahoe. During the summer it’s full of wildflowers, grasses, pines, coyotes (we even saw a few during the shoot) surrounded by the gorgeous Sierra Nevada mountains and Lake Tahoe herself. If you’ve never been to Lake Tahoe, you have to go, there is really nowhere else quite like it in the world. If you are considering a destination wedding, Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place to get married. If your family doesn’t have a lake home, don’t fret. You can always rent a gorgeous property on the water for your wedding day like The Thunderbird Lodge. (Off the point, but I am obsessed with this castle-like venue).
What can I say about my beautiful sister and my awesome brother-in-law that these pictures don’t already say? Fun and lighthearted, they don’t take themselves too seriously, but are passionate when it comes to family. Though they are both two busy people, they cherish every minute they have together. Never seen Candice happier than since she met Chris and I’m sure Chris’s family would say the same of him. They are truly a match made in heaven and it was such a joy to endeavor to capture that bond.
