Bryant Park Grill Wedding | New York Wedding Photographer
Being a New York wedding photographer is such a unique profession. You come into people’s lives for a year or so throughout the engagement, and then join them in every moment of the biggest day of their lives, essentially becoming a part of the family for just one day. A wedding is a concentrated look into someone’s life and family that you couldn’t get in any other way. I feel so honored that each of my couples invite me to be a part of their lives in this way. And yet I am there with a purpose: to create stunning photographs and capture amazing moments. While I love every wedding, there are four elements that make a wedding day for me as a photographer: warm and friendly people, raw emotion, a beautiful setting, and an awesome dance party. This wedding had all four. Jill and I realized in our first meeting that we have a similar style, and truly, if I had an NYC wedding, I would have wanted it to look just like this. Jill and James stunning wedding was all at once a celebration of the beautiful urban landscape with the midtown skyscraper views, an ode to old world New York architecture with the stunning New York Public Library
backdrop and a secret garden ceremony on the Bryant Park Grill
‘s rooftop tucked away from the busy metropolis amongst the tress. The gorgeous florals by Anne at Blade NYC
transformed the Bryant Park Grill into even more of a secret garden atmosphere
And yet for pulling of such a gorgeous wedding, it was a wonder that neither James or Jill showed any signs of anxiety or stress on their wedding day. Instead, they each seemed to soak up and enjoy every minute together with their friends and family recognizing so astutely that a wedding day isn’t just a fancy party, but a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of their commitment to love each other through thick and thin. You can tell a lot about a person from their friends, and Jill and James had a lot of friends to spare. With nine bridesmaids and groomsman each you would have thought the day to be chaotic, but all of their friends were so kind, helpful, and supporting of their two dear friends that were getting married.
Those things would have been enough to make this the perfect wedding, but the dancing portion of the evening was incredible as well. James and Jill’s reception has to be one of the wildest wedding receptions I’ve been too. Not only was the groom thrown into the air several times flat on his back, but so was one of the talented band singers from Hank Lane Music, who like a pro just kept on singing as if nothing was happening.
It was an amazing night.
Thank you to Sidney and Kristy for your invaluable help that day. So grateful for both of you!
